[Hook's first night aboard the ship wasn't very eventful, to be honest. The second night was much the same. And now we find our handless friend with a conundrum. He removed his harness to bathe and now he'll need to get back into it.]
Well, isn't this quite the problem.
[Momentarily, he's forgotten Smee isn't here.]
MR. SMEE!
...
Forgive my shouting. Would anyone here care to lend a hand?

[What]
Well then.
no subject
[Otherwise you're wasting his time.]
no subject
Um.
[Pause. Something shatters in the background]
Oh dear... Oh, I am sorry. There seems to have been an... incident. Some other time. I do hope you get your... hook taken care of.
[Oh god okay CLICK]
no subject
...Erm. Did you need help?
no subject
no subject
[that wasn't weird at all.]
Um, sure, I suppose. Do you need me to come to you...?
no subject
no subject
Right. I'll be there shortly, then.
[and he's one deck lower than Hook. Shortly is short.]

[Blink. Missing hand, that's...ouch. Huh. Don knocks lightly on the open door with his free hand and wonders a bit late if he should have let this guy know he was a giant turtle.]
Excuse me, sir? You said you needed help?
no subject
Indeed. I'm afraid I do not know your name, to thank you properly.
[Of course, Hook's idea of a proper thank you sometimes included a hook in the gut. Fortunately, he doesn't have the right equipment.]
no subject
[No screaming yet, though the fact the man hasn't looked up is a bit...odd. Worrisome.]
[Still, no screaming is a plus, and Donatello steps lightly into the room to venture a bit closer to the bed without removing his hand from his staff]
My name is Donatello, and it really is no problem. You are...?
[he glances around for the hook]
no subject
He points to where the harness is.]
Over there, Donatello. I am Captain James Hook.
[And with a poof, a dunce cap appears on Hook's head. What the devil?]
no subject
[Still, he smiles in what he hopes is a friendly manner as he goes to snag the harness.]
Okay. Pleased to meet you-
[Fortunately for Don, he didn't get to the "Captain" part of that and froze at the appearence of the cap, the harness dangling from his hands.]
Er.
no subject
Shall we?
[Maybe if he ignored it, it wouldn't be that big of a deal.]
no subject
[Right. Ignoring. He could do that. Donatello looks away from the cap and steps closer to Hook, shifting the harness around in his hands and glancing at it once to figure out the straps. Then he gestures for the handless arm.]
Right. I haven't put one of these on before, so please excuse any clumsiness.
no subject
[Hook just nods and turns his back to Donatello. He slipped his arms into the harness and settled his wrist into the contraption that held his plastic hook. Ugh. Donatello is no Smee. But he'll do. He reaches for the leather strap to secure it in place.]
no subject
[He can't help but be curious, however.]
Are these types of prosthetics common where you come from?
no subject
no subject
[Don's studying the harness carefully with his eyes, endlessly curious. It's obviously not something from modern times, but it seems well put-together, too.]
no subject
[Nevermind that Hook is among those dreadful people.]
no subject
Ah. I'm sorry about that.
[not much else he can say, really.]
How long have you been here?
no subject
[Hook doesn't seem all that interested as he smooths what he can of his curls with his hook.]
Three days by my count.
no subject
[Donatello glances to the door then back.]
Did you need help with anything else?
no subject
[Hook taps his plastic hook against the nightstand then turns to nod to Donatello. He never really said thank you, did he?]
no subject
[Don nods and reflexively bobs down in a slight - a very slight - bow before he steps toward the door.]
[Cautious turtle that he is, he isn't comfortable enough to turn his back. Still, he tries to keep it from being overly obvious as he moves to leave.]
